I was at the photographer’s with my soon-to-be husband, fretting over what I can now say was a small stain on my train, that I got while getting out of the car. The photographer assured me it would not be seen on the photos, but I wasn’t worrying about that – I still had to walk down the aisle, and I was sure it would be glaringly obvious to everyone! It wasn’t, and likely it bothered me more than anyone else.
It was a wonderful day. I felt like a princess, and the day seemed to just speed by. I had one moment of panic during the ceremony. Our pastor had watched Prince Edward and Sophie’s wedding ceremony earlier in the day, and had liked how they’d done the exchange of rings. We’d practiced the evening prior having both wedding rings on the Bible while he talked about the symbolism. Instead, he did one ring at a time. The guys knew about the change, but they did not inform the bride. I was wondering where the other ring went! Later on, the pastor explained to me his reason for the change; I wish I’d known that before the ceremony!
Anyway, today we celebrate 9 years, and at times I can’t believe that it’s been that long already. Unless my husband has plans he hasn’t told me about, we don’t have anything special planned. Some things don’t change; our conversations surrounding what to do for anniversaries usually go something like this:
“What do you want to do?” “I don’t know. What do you want to do?” When we were dating, we’d sometimes be on the phone for an hour or more (I think our record was 2 or 3 hours) just trying to decide what we’d do.
Well, enough reminiscing for today. By the way, I cannot take credit for the wedding sampler pictured above; my mother-in-law is the stitcher of that piece. I apologize for the poor photography; I was in a hurry, and I haven’t figured out how to take a good picture of something framed and behind glass.
Have a great day, and I wish a congratulations to anyone else celebrating their anniversary today.
